HISTORY
Much like the way we create our scents, our brand began spontaneously. Back in 2022, a conversation about coffee beans in a cafe in Seoul between two family members and a close friend that managed a beauty factory spurred the small idea of creating fragrances — at the time, we had no plan to build an entire brand around them. We simply enjoyed fragrances and the process of their creation; the beauty was in the spontaneity and experimentation. We took inspiration from intimate things in daily life — a flower along a mountain trail in Georgia, an opera performance at the Met, a viewing of the film Au Hasard Balthazar, a walk through a rainy Central Park, a first sip of a cocktail at a New York speakeasy, a trip to a traditional Korean tea house — and saw how far we could run with it.
After nearly two years of exploration, development, and testing with the assistance of professional perfumers, scientists, and skincare experts in Korea, we created our first products. The original plan was to market them to existing brands, but at the end 24 months of learning and creating, we knew we had crafted something much more unique than a wholesale product. Each iteration was carefully designed and tested by all three of us. Each aromatic note that we removed or added represented much more than a chemical edit; we wanted to ensure that the fragrance would re-express the moment of inspiration that had psychologically imprinted itself on one of us.
Hence, in the summer of 2024, we began the process of brand-building. With little financial capital but a commitment to finding individuals who shared our deep appreciation for sensory creations, we connected with budding artists at universities around the country and local artists in New York. In this respect, our visual identity is the amalgamation of many different personalities with varying histories. Our logo, our bottles, our boxes, our website, our photos — these all originate from separate people, who are all inspired by minimalist design and joined by the strong desire to create lasting sensory mementos that bring personal inspirations & memories into concrete reality.
Yet, we don’t believe our process is finished until an audience is able to interpret it for themselves. Just as we have kept each step of our history and process as personal as possible, we reject the idea of using middlemen to interface with you — you should directly focus on determining which scents you want to keep, not with frustrating customer service or superfluous marketing. Accordingly, you’ll often find one of us at self-run pop-up stores, independent New York boutiques, and university events around the country, making sure you can determine what fragrances best fit your aesthetic signature with one of us close by.
